นิทรรศการ “Variety Yo” นิทรรศการเดี่ยวของโยทะกา จุลโลบล
วันเสาร์ที่ 10 ธันวาคม 2565 – ขอเรียนเชิญร่วมเป็นเกียรติในเปิดนิทรรศการ “Variety Yo” นิทรรศการเดี่ยวของโยทะกา จุลโลบล นิทรรศการเปิดให้เข้าชมตั้งแต่วันที่ 1 ธันวาคม 2565 ถึง 1 มกราคม 2566 ณ ห้องจริยศิลป์ชั้น 4 หอศิลปวัฒนธรรมกรุงเทพมหานคร (BACC)
“Variety Yo” นิทรรศการเดี่ยวครั้งที่ 4 ของโยทะกา จุลโลบล ในโลกของศิลปะโยทะกามีบทบาทที่หลากหลาย หลายคนอาจรู้จักโยทะกาในฐานะผู้ดำเนินรายการโทรทัศน์ทางศิลปะ หรือแม้กระทั่งเป็นผู้บริหารสื่อ แต่ตลอดระยะเวลา 10 ปีที่ผ่านมาโยทะกาเองไม่เคยหยุดที่จะทำอีกหนึ่งหน้าที่ นั่นคือ ศิลปิน นิทรรศการ “Variety Yo” ดึงเอาคำว่า วาไรตี้ หรือ หลากหลายมาเป็นชื่องาน ซึ่งน่าจะเป็นอีกหนึ่งคำที่สามารถบรรยายความเป็นโยทะกาอย่างได้ใจความชัดเจนและละเอียดมากขึ้น
“Variety is the very spice of life, that gives it all its flavor.” หนึ่งในวลีที่โด่งดัง “The Task” (1785) ของ William Cowper (วิลเลียม คูเปอร์) กวีชื่อดังแห่งศตวรรษที่สิบแปด เป็นอีกหนึ่งวลีที่คิดถึงเสมอเมื่อนึกความเป็นโยทะกา วลีนี้ทำให้นึกถึงชีวิตการทำงาน ความสัมพันธ์ ชีวิต ฯลฯ และสำหรับโยทะกาเองการทำงานในหลากหลายบทบาท หรือแม้กระทั้งการเลือกสร้างสรรค์งานในรูปแบบที่แตกต่าง การเปลี่ยนแปลงเล็กน้อย (หรือใหญ่) ทำให้ชีวิตน่าสนใจ “Variety Yo” รวมเอางานรวม 3 ซีรีส์ของโยทะกามาจัดแสดง ประกอบไปด้วย ชุดผลงานวาดเส้น (drawing) ชุดผลงาน Strong flowers Under The Mask ความเชื่อกับสีมงคล และชุดผลงานภาพบุคคล (portrait)
“แม้ว่าเราจะไม่มีเวลาเราก็สามารถที่จะทำงานศิลปะได้อย่างคนไม่มีเวลา Drawing นั้นไม่ใช่เป็นเพียงแค่สเก็ตแต่มัน คือ งานจริง” คือคำกล่าวที่อาจารย์ปัญญา วิจินธนสาร ศิลปินแห่งชาติ พูดไว้กับศิลปิน เธอจึงนำมาเป็นแรงบันดาลใจในการสร้างสรรค์ผลงานในชุดวาดเส้น ผลงานในชุดนี้โยทะกาเลือกใช้กระดาษสีดำ เธอถ่ายทอดผลงานโดยใช้ปากกาสีเงินและสีทองแทนความหมายของเวลาที่เปี่ยมไปด้วยคุณค่า
โยทะกานำสัญศาสตร์ และการแทนความเข้ามาใช้ในผลงานผลงานทั้ง 8 ชิ้นใน ชุด Strong flowers Under the Mask ความเชื่อกับสีมงคล บางวัฒนธรรมอาจจะมองว่าหน้ากากนั้นเป็นตัวแทนของความหลอกลวง แต่โยทะกาเลือกตีความ ‘หน้ากาก’ ต่างออกไป หน้ากากในผลงานของเธอจึงเป็นภาพตัวแทนของจิตใต้สำนึก กิเลส ความอยากจะได้อยากจะเป็นบ่งบอกถึงความต้องการภายในของบุคคลนั้น ๆ ส่วนรูปลักษณ์ของดอกไม้โยทะกาได้แรงดันใจมาจากรูปทรงของดอกป๊อปปี้ตัวแทนของทหารผ่านศึก ดอกป๊อปปี้ถูกนำมาใช้เป็นภาพแทนความแข็งแกร่งความอดทน แม้สีสันหลากหลายสดใสอันเป็นอัตลักษณ์ในผลงานของเธอในทุกชุด แต่ในผลงานชุดนี้โยทะกาเลือกใช้คู่สีตามความเชื่อของคนไทยเรื่องของสีมงคลของคนที่เกิดในแต่ละวัน
สุดท้าย ชุดผลงานภาพบุคคล (portrait) ภาพเหมือนบุคคลที่ต่างจากรูปแบบที่บุคคลทั่วไปคุ้นเคย งานภาพเหมือนบุคคลส่วนใหญ่จะมีรูปแบบการถ่ายทอดเน้นในการใช้เส้นเยอะแต่ผลงานของโยทะกากลับตรงข้ามเธอเลือกที่จะใช้สีที่เยอะลดทอนเส้นให้เหลือน้อย งานภาพเหมือนบุคคลของศิลปินจึงเป็นอีกหนึ่งชุดผลงานที่ถ่ายทอดภาพความเป็นตัวตนของศิลปินได้อย่างชัดเจน ‘She Male’ สะท้อนถึงแนวความคิดที่นำเรื่องของเพศสภาพตัวแทนของความหลากหลาย หนึ่งในผลงานในชุดนี้ที่โยทะกาเคยส่งไปร่วมประกวดประเทศอังกฤษ ถูกนำมาจัดแสดงในนิทรรศการครั้งนี้ด้วยเช่นกัน
นอกไปจากผลงานทั้งสามชุด ในนิทรรศการครั้งนี้มีผลงานที่เป็นประติมากรรมที่ศิลปินได้รับแรงบันดาลใจจากประติมากรรมแบบเฉียบพลันที่วิษณุพงศ์ หนูนันท์ ปั้นขึ้นมาเมื่อครั้งโยทะกาได้ไปสัมภาษณ์เขาเพื่อออกรายการโทรทัศน์ สำหรับผลงานชิ้นนี้โยทะกาต้องการถ่ายทอดถึงเรื่องราวชีวิตที่เปรียบดังละครอยู่ในโทรทัศน์ เพราะมนุษย์เราชีวิตก็ล้วนแล้วแต่มีบทบาทแตกต่างกันไม่ต่างกับละครของชีวิต
นิทรรศการในครั้งนี้นำทุกท่านเข้าสู่โลกอันหลากหลายของศิลปิน ทั้งรูปลักษณ์และเนื้อหา สะท้อนถึงการตีความ การรับรู้ของศิลปินที่มีต่อชีวิตและสังคม

Bangkok, Saturday, December 10th, 2022 – You are cordially invited to attend the exhibition’s opening, “Variety Yo” by Yotaka Jullobol. “Variety Yo” will be on view from December 1st, 2020 – January 1, 2023 at 4th Floor, Bangkok Art and Culture Center (BACC)
“Variety Yo,” Yotaka Jullobol’s fourth solo exhibition. Yotaka Jullobol plays a variety of roles in art world. Many people may recognize Jullobol as a talented television host or media executive. But, for the past ten years, Yotaka Jullobol has never stopped doing one of her favorite jobs, ‘artist.’ The exhibition “Variety Yo” takes its title from the word variety. This is most likely another word that can describe the artist in greater detail.
“Variety is the very spice of life, that gives it all its flavor.” One of the most famous lines from William Cowper’s “The Task,” written in the eighteenth century (1785). When think of Yotaka Jullobol, this is the phrase that comes to mind. This phrase conjures up images of work, relationships, and everyday life, as well as Jullobol working in a variety of roles or even deciding to create work in a variety of ways. “Variety Yo” displays three series of the artist’s work: a drawing series, the Strong Flowers Under The Mask series, beliefs and auspicious colors, and a portrait series.
“If we don’t have time, we can nonetheless make work in the style of those who are also time-starved. Sketching is one aspect of drawing, not simply a rough draft.” In a conversation with Panya Vijinthanasarn, a national artist, this experience prompted her to start drawing lines. In this set, Jullobol uses black paper, and by using silver and gold pens, she hints at how time is precious.
Yotaka Jullobol’s The Strong Flowers Under The Mask series, beliefs and auspicious colors, is comprised of eight pieces that deal with semiotics and representation. Faith is the theme of this body of work, and the colors chosen are meant to bring good fortune. People who wear masks are considered dishonest in some cultures. Jullobol, on the other hand, sees the mask as a symbol for the human mind, heart, soul, and desire to be. The shape was inspired by the poppy, the official flower of veterans. People wore poppies to demonstrate their strength and determination. Her work is distinguished by its vibrant colors and bold shapes. Jullobol bases her color scheme in this series on the widely held belief in Thai culture that an auspicious color has special significance depending on one’s birth date.
At long last, a collection of portraits that deviates from the norm Yotaka Jullobol’s portraits are striking because they eschew the usual emphasis on linework. She opts for fewer lines by increasing the number of colors used. Another set that does a good job of revealing the artist’s true identity is the artist’s portrait series. “She Male” alludes to the idea that gender is just one of many representations of diversity. Jullobol entered this painting into a British art competition last year.
There is a sculpture by the artist that was inspired by Witsanupong Noonan’s sculpture from when Yotaka interviewed him for a television program, in addition to the three-work series. In this piece, Jullobol attempts to dramatize the human experience in this work. Given the diversity of humanity, real-life drama necessitates a large cast of unique individuals.
Everyone can gain a glimpse into the varied practices of artist through this exhibition. The artist’s interpretation of life and society is reflected in both the form and content of the work.
